I’ve added five more seasons to the NFL ratings archive. Rankings are now available for every season from 1981 through 2025, giving the site 45 consecutive seasons of NFL history.

Each newly added season includes Power Ratings, Elo Ratings, Adjusted Scoring ratings for offense and defense, Quarterback Efficiency Ratings, and Scrimmage Performance Ratings for running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends.

Newly added NFL seasons

1985: Chicago dominates

Chicago capped one of the greatest seasons in NFL history with a 46-10 victory over New England in Super Bowl XX. The Bears finished first in my Power Ratings and Adjusted Defense ratings, while San Diego led the Adjusted Offense ratings.

Ken O’Brien tops the Quarterback Efficiency Ratings. The Scrimmage Performance Ratings are led by Stump Mitchell at running back, Wes Chandler at wide receiver, and Jimmie Giles at tight end.

1984: San Francisco finishes 18-1

San Francisco defeated Miami 38-16 in Super Bowl XIX to complete an 18-1 season. The 49ers finished first in my Power Ratings and Adjusted Defense ratings, while Miami ranked first in Adjusted Offense.

Dan Marino leads the Quarterback Efficiency Ratings. The Scrimmage Performance Ratings are led by Marcus Allen at running back, Roy Green at wide receiver, and Zeke Mowatt at tight end.

1983: The Raiders stop Washington’s repeat bid

The Los Angeles Raiders defeated Washington 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII. Washington finished first in my Power Ratings and Adjusted Offense ratings, while Miami led the Adjusted Defense ratings.

Joe Montana tops the Quarterback Efficiency Ratings. The Scrimmage Performance Ratings are led by William Andrews at running back, Mike Quick at wide receiver, and Paul Coffman at tight end.

1982: Washington wins a strike-shortened season

Washington defeated Miami 27-17 in Super Bowl XVII. Washington also finished first in my Power Ratings and Adjusted Defense ratings, while San Diego led the Adjusted Offense ratings.

1981: San Francisco begins a dynasty

San Francisco earned its first championship with a 26-21 victory over Cincinnati in Super Bowl XVI. The 49ers finished first in my Power Ratings, while San Diego led the Adjusted Offense ratings and Philadelphia ranked first in Adjusted Defense.
