The WNBA is taking a break from August 31 through September 17 for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, which will be played September 4–13 in Berlin, Germany. These ratings provide a snapshot of where every team stands as league play pauses.
WNBA Regular Season Power Ratings
Golden State takes over the No. 1 spot entering the break, edging Minnesota by only 0.083 rating points. The Valkyries have won 27 games and own the league’s best defense, while the Lynx remain the more balanced team.
Las Vegas moves up to third, just ahead of Atlanta. Dallas makes the biggest move near the top, climbing two places to fifth. New York and Indiana each slide one spot despite winning records, while Washington remains eighth.

The middle of the rankings could hardly be tighter. Dallas, New York, and Indiana are separated by only 0.019 rating points. Golden State and Minnesota are similarly close at the top, but there is a clear gap between the leading eight teams and the rest of the league.
WNBA Regular Season Elo Ratings
Golden State also climbs to first in Elo after sitting fourth last week. Minnesota is less than one Elo point behind, making the race at the top essentially even entering the break. Indiana holds onto third, followed by Atlanta, Las Vegas, and New York.
The two systems now agree on the top two teams. The season-long power ratings favor Golden State by 0.083 points, while Elo gives the Valkyries an advantage of only 0.909 points over Minnesota.

Indiana continues to lead the league in adjusted offense by a wide margin. The Fever score 10.612 points more per game than their opponents typically allow. Minnesota remains second, with Atlanta, Las Vegas, and New York completing the top five.

WNBA Regular Season Adjusted Scoring Defense
Golden State’s defense has become even more dominant. The Valkyries hold opponents 12.419 points below their usual scoring average, more than nine points better than second-place Washington. Dallas ranks third, followed by Minnesota and Atlanta.
The leading teams continue to succeed in very different ways. Indiana is first offensively but 13th defensively, while Golden State is 14th on offense and first on defense. Minnesota remains the most balanced contender, ranking second on offense and fourth on defense.
