Team Rankings

The Brewers remain my No. 1 team, followed by the Dodgers and Braves. Milwaukee went 4-2 during the week and expanded its run differential from +136 to +161. The Dodgers are now only one win behind and have a +151 differential, but the Brewers still hold a 1.66-point advantage in the ratings. The Cubs and Yankees round out the top five.

Cleveland is the week’s biggest riser, climbing three spots to No. 16. Detroit makes the largest drop, falling three places to No. 12 despite still owning a +73 run differential. Philadelphia moves up two spots to eighth, and San Diego enters the top 10.

These ratings are not just the standings. They account for run differential, opponent strength, and season-long performance. Tampa Bay, for example, has two more wins than Atlanta but ranks four places lower because the Braves have a +110 run differential compared with the Rays’ +44. Detroit presents the opposite case: its 61-69 record is below .500, but its strong run differential keeps it 12th.

Milwaukee’s hold on the top spot is increasingly built on balance. The Brewers still have the league’s best pitching TOP, and their offense climbed from 10th to sixth this week. The Dodgers also remain strong on both sides, ranking third in batting TOP and third in pitching TOP.

Batting

Washington continues to lead the league in batting TOP, but the Cubs have closed the gap to only 0.002. The Dodgers remain third, followed by the Yankees and Pirates. Milwaukee makes the biggest move within the top 10, jumping four places to sixth. Tampa Bay slips two spots to No. 10.

Yordan Alvarez remains the top qualified hitter at 0.678 TOP. Pete Crow-Armstrong moves ahead of James Wood for second after increasing his total-bases production to 0.660 per plate appearance. Shohei Ohtani climbs three places to fourth, and CJ Abrams rounds out the top five. Willson Contreras makes another notable move, rising five spots to seventh.

TOP measures total bases accumulated per plate appearance. Expected runs converts those total bases into a simple run estimate, giving another way to compare offensive production across players and teams.

Pitching

The Brewers continue to lead the pitching rankings, with the Yankees holding second. The Dodgers climb two places to third, followed by Boston and Detroit. Milwaukee’s 0.423 TOP means opposing hitters have accumulated fewer total bases per batter faced than against any other staff; for pitching TOP, lower is better.

The top four individual pitchers remain unchanged. Jacob Misiorowski leads at 0.302, ahead of Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Chris Sale, and Cam Schlittler. Dylan Cease moves up one place to fifth, swapping positions with Drew Rasmussen. Parker Messick climbs into the top 10 at No. 9, and Tarik Skubal moves from 12th to 10th.

Misiorowski’s lead is substantial. Opponents have accumulated only 166 total bases across 550 batters faced, leaving his 0.302 TOP more than 14% lower than Yamamoto’s second-place mark of 0.353.
