I’ve added rankings for the 2020 NFL season. The new section includes my Power Ratings, Elo Ratings, Adjusted Scoring ratings for offense and defense, and Quarterback Efficiency Ratings.

A season unlike any other

The 2020 season was played against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The preseason was canceled, stadium attendance was limited or eliminated, and several games had to be rescheduled. The NFL still completed its full regular-season schedule and expanded the playoff field from 12 to 14 teams.

On the field, the Kansas City Chiefs finished with the league’s best regular-season record at 14-2. Aaron Rodgers won his third NFL MVP award after throwing 48 touchdown passes and leading the Green Bay Packers to the NFC’s top seed. Derrick Henry rushed for 2,027 yards, becoming the eighth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a season.

The season ended with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeating Kansas City 31-9 in Super Bowl LV. Tampa Bay became the first team to play in—and win—a Super Bowl in its home stadium, while Brady earned his seventh championship and fifth Super Bowl MVP award.
