Team Rankings

The Brewers remain my number one team, followed by the Dodgers and Braves. Milwaukee and Los Angeles have identical plus-136 run differentials, but the Brewers have three more wins and hold a 2.52-point advantage in the ratings. The Cubs and Rays round out an unchanged top five.

Baltimore is the biggest riser this week, climbing three spots to number 18. Texas falls three places to number 21, the largest drop. The Phillies move into the top 10, edging Arizona by just 0.05 rating points.

These ratings are not just the standings. They account for run differential, opponent strength and season-long performance, which is why teams with similar records can land several spots apart.

Milwaukee’s profile continues to stand out because it is built on run prevention. The Brewers rank first in team pitching TOP even though their offense ranks only 10th. The Dodgers remain more balanced, ranking third in batting TOP and fifth in pitching TOP.

Batting

The Nationals continue to lead the league in batting TOP, followed by the Cubs, Dodgers, Pirates and Yankees. Tampa Bay climbs into the top 10 at number 8, and the White Sox enter at number 9. Milwaukee slips two spots to number 10.

Yordan Alvarez remains the best hitter in baseball by a comfortable margin. James Wood moves back ahead of Pete Crow-Armstrong for second. Munetaka Murakami enters the qualified rankings at number 4, while Kyle Schwarber rounds out the top five.

TOP measures total bases accumulated per plate appearance. Expected runs converts those total bases into a simple run estimate, giving another way to compare offensive production across players and teams.

Pitching

The Brewers continue to lead the league in pitching TOP, with the Yankees holding second. Detroit, Boston and Los Angeles round out the top five. Milwaukee’s 0.425 means opposing hitters have accumulated fewer total bases per batter faced than against any other staff; for pitching TOP, lower is better.

Jacob Misiorowski remains the clear number one pitcher. Yoshinobu Yamamoto stays second, while Chris Sale and Cam Schlittler each move up one spot. Drew Rasmussen climbs into the top five, and Dylan Cease falls from third to sixth.
