The conference championship games are over. Clemson edges SMU to win the ACC. This knocks Alabama out of the playoff as Clemson gets the automatic bid and SMU still remains. Georgia beats Texas for the second time in the season to claim the SEC Championship. Both teams will go into the playoffs. Arizona State continues their surprising season by winning the Big 12 Championship in their first year in the conference. And Oregon takes down Penn State to finish the regular season 13-0 and claim their first Big 10 championship.

The FBS regular season is a wrap. FCS, D2 and D3 have started their playoffs. Oregon finishes the season as the only undefeated FBS school.

The ACC started the final weekend with a chance to put 3 teams in the playoff. Instead, they went 1-3 against the SEC. They’ll probably wind up with only a single team now.

Who would have thought Ohio State wouldn’t be playing for a Big 10 championship? Ryan Day keeps his job for now because of the playoff. Before the new playoff, he’d probably already be fired.

And then there was one. Oregon is the last of the undefeated. Army falls to Notre Dame and Indiana can’t hang with Ohio State. A big shakeup in my rankings this week. The cannibalism of the SEC is in full force. My Hokies drop another one score game under Brent Pry. He’s 1-12 now in one score games.

Another undefeated team falls. Kansas takes down BYU. Oregon, Indiana and Army remain undefeated. Indiana faces Ohio State this week and Army takes on Notre Dame.

The four highest ranked conference champions would be Oregon, Texas, SMU, and BYU if the season ended today. Boise State is currently the highest ranked group of 5 school.

Down goes Miami. We are left with 4 undefeated teams in FBS. I bet nobody had Army, BYU and Indiana in that list.

Since everyone else has posted their projected playoff teams, I figured I list my top 12 teams after Week 11:

Three schools fall from the ranks of the unbeatens. Penn State fell to Ohio State, Iowa State fell to Texas Tech and Pitt fell to SMU.

Who’s going to make the playoffs? I’m starting to see the big picture. I think both the Big 10 and SEC will get 4 teams each in the playoff. The ACC will have 1 team. The Big 12 will have 1 team. There will be 1 team from the Group of 5. And Notre Dame will probably be the other team in.

Two more schools fell from the ranks of the unbeaten in FBS. Liberty fell to Kennesaw State, their first win over an FBS school in their history. And Navy got introduced to a quality opponent and got smoked by Notre Dame.

Who will be the next to fall from the ranks of the undefeated?

Down goes Texas. They finally played a really good team and they came up short against Georgia. The rankings get shuffled a lot this week. Oregon is my new number #1 team followed by Ohio State, Indiana, BYU and Penn State. Wait. Did I say Indiana? Yep, last year’s JMU team who now call themselves Indiana walloped Nebraska 56-7 over the weekend.

With Texas’s loss to Georgia, we are down to 10 undefeated FBS schools left after Week 8:

If you told me in August that these schools would be in my top 25 rankings after week 7, I’d say you were crazy. But BYU is #4. Boise State is #8. Indiana is #9. SMU is #15. Pitt is #16. Washington State is #19. Navy is #23. And Army is #25.

Texas holds firm at #1. With Oregon’s 32-31 win over Ohio State last night, they jump to #2 in my rankings and Ohio State comes in at #3.

Wow! What a day of upsets! Alabama and Tennesse went on the road and got beat. Miami overcame a 25 point deficit to squeak out a win against Cal. Army and Navy are both 5-0 for the first time since 1945. Preseason Top 25 schools Kansas and NC State might be the worst teams in their conferences.
